Dubai Skyscapers December 11, 2019

After a wonderful Boeing 787 flight on AC56 (in J we're happy to say) we landed in Dubai and sailed through customs, baggage, duty free with ten bottles of wine, and a taxi to Movenpick Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Every male or female service person treated us with extraordinary kindness, respect and dignity. This vacation has gotten off perfectly and after a good night's rest we breakfasted in a nice little outdoor restaurant a few blocks from the hotel. Everyone has suggested that a Hop on Hop off bus as the start - something we usually do in most cities.
Today's ride features Dubai's Skyscrapers of which I hope my Apple 8's camera will do justice to this phenom all started just a few years ago and continues to flourish. You'll see a few cranes here and there.

    Glad to hear the trip over went off without a hitch. Is it all *just* skyscrapers in Dubai? Any hint of what was there before this construction boom (if there was anything)?

December 22, 2019 Our tour to the Grand Mosque was exceptional in that it is perhaps the most important thing that one must see when visiting the sister city to Dubai, and that is the capital city Abu Dhabi in the UAE. Our driver took us through tunnels and over bridges that appeared to be quite new, and as is the case, spotless. He detailed the area’s relevancy to the Ruler's master plan as well as its Islamic religious dominance of their population which is 20% by birthright, with the expats running at 80%. He talked about the young adult when getting married is given a  significant amount to have the wedding of their dreams, a full amount of money to buy their first home, and a few additional contributions to get their young marriage off on the right foot. We are amazed at what appears to be factoids about their country. Fishin Golfin B.C. CCCottage Trip 2018 and memories of Cccottage Days long gone.

  It's not because this post is titled "Fishin Golfin B.C Cottage Trip 2018 and memories of past Cccottage ..." It's because our story goes deep into the lives of the participants. The beginning was only 60 odd years ago in a separate grade school and a public grade school in the Leslieville area of south-eastern Toronto. There's plenty of detail that could be authored about pre-teen adventures which could reveal individual personality characteristics; however, I believe that the beginning should start around the time when one or more of us suggested a rental cottage for the summer would provide a great place to drink and have some harmless fun.
